- Holcim’s joint venture Cement Australia to acquire division of Perth-based Buckeridge Group of Companies (BGC)
- Advances Holcim’s growth strategy in the attractive market of Australia
Broadens Cement Australia’s offering in Western Australia and adds state-of-the-art facilities
Holcim’s joint venture Cement Australia has signed an agreement to acquire a division of the Buckeridge Group of Companies (BGC), strengthening its footprint in Western Australia. Through the acquisition, Cement Australia will gain assets including a state-of-the-art cement grinding station with significant annual capacity, a transport fleet and a nationally-accredited innovation centre. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
Founded in 1959 by architect Len Buckeridge, BGC grew from being a property developer for residential homes into an integrated, innovation-focused construction and manufacturing company centered on Western Australia. The division of BGC to be acquired includes cement, concrete, quarry and asphalt, as well as its Materials Technology Centre. Cement Australia, a joint venture between Holcim and Heidelberg Materials, is a leading supplier of building materials and solutions in Australia.
Martin Kriegner, Holcim Region Head Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and Chairman of Cement Australia: “The acquisition of this division of family-owned BGC will reinforce Holcim’s footprint in the attractive market of Australia. With its state-of-the-art facilities, the acquisition will advance Holcim’s leadership in sustainable and innovative building solutions.”
