Elevate takes the LEED with cutting-edge facility in Salt Lake City
Fly into Salt Lake City, Utah one of these days, and as you descend you’ll see a gleaming new 60,000m2 manufacturing facility just west of the city airport.
This manufacturing and distribution center for Holcim’s iconic Elevate brand, which provides commercial roofing, wall and lining systems, is the largest industrial or manufacturing project in Utah, and the first in Salt Lake City to achieve LEED v4 certification – the next-generation standard for green building design, construction, operations and performance.
Built to expand service to Western U.S. and Canada markets, the plant opened its doors earlier this year, and provides solutions to make buildings more sustainable in use – to drive energy efficiency and green retrofitting, as Holcim decarbonizes building at scale.
Not only does the center have the potential to triple regional production capacity of Elevate ISOGARDTM polyiso insulation, it has added a new production line for Elevate UNA-CLADTM metal products and serves as a regional distribution center for all Elevate product lines.
Holcim solutions help win LEED certification
As a landmark in sustainability, the facility was built using Holcim’s sustainable building solutions throughout, from foundation to rooftop.
FortiCem®, part of our ECOPlanet low-carbon cement portfolio, significantly reduced the CO2 footprint of the building’s footings, foundation, floors and tilt panels, while the walls were clad using Elevate UNA-CLAD metal wall panels. Walkways and loading docks use anti-slip coatings from American Safety Technologies® and PolySpec® THIOKOL® primer.
For the roof, a range of Elevate solutions were used: UltraPlyTM TPO membrane for energy efficiency, performance, durability and strength, ISOGARD polyiso insulation for insulation, UNA-CLAD metal for roof coping and canopies and SunWave™ skylights.
With elements such as motion-control LED lighting, high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and hot water units, as well as EV charging stations and flow control plumbing fixtures, our building solutions helped the facility achieve LEED v4 certification.
For Kristin Beck, President of Elevate Commercial Roofing Systems, the new facility is an exciting milestone as Elevate continues to grow and focus on its customers, as well as a testament to the strength of the brand’s portfolio.
This new facility underscores our dedication to advancing sustainable building solutions. We’re committed to supporting our customers in enhancing the energy efficiency of their buildings and helping them achieve their sustainability goals. At Elevate, our mission is to build a better future. This plant is a testament to our ongoing promise that ‘Nobody Covers You Better’.
